Larry Douglas Beasley

Larry Douglas Beasley, 72, died Sunday, January 27, 2019 at his residence. A native and life-long resident of Tupelo, he was born August 4, 1946 to Reuben and Dorothy Marie McClellan Beasley. In 1966, he married Ann Dykstra in Nettleton. On October 3, 1968, he enlisted with the Army and served active duty where he spent two years in Germany before being honorably discharged and then served in the Army National Guard for a number of years. He also worked as a route carrier at the Tupelo Post Office for 37 years and a cook at the Longview Motocross Track for over a decade. He was a sports enthusiast and Tupelo High School's number one fan. He attended almost every football, baseball and softball game they have had for nearly 50 years. He was a long-time member of Harrisburg Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Kim Beasley Shelton and her husband, Nicky of Olive Branch, Karl Beasley of Saltillo and Scott Beasley and his wife, Krissie of Tupelo; three grandchildren, Emily Shelton and Ethan Shelton both of Olive Branch, Madisen Beasley of Saltillo; brother, Bobby Beasley and his wife, Dottie of Tupelo; and his best fur friend, Winky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Kennon Beasley; sister, Dorothy Beasley Tate; two brothers, Thomas Beasley and Terry Beasley; and his beloved fur friend, Nelly.

Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2019 and from 12 p.m. until service time Thursday, January 31, 2019 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.

Services honoring his life will be 1 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Forrest Sheffield and Rev. David Smith officiating. A graveside service will follow in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Butch Godwin, Steve Burnside, Richard McGraw, Thomas Scott, Leon Cochran, Jerry King, Charles Estes and Charlie Davis.
