Lanny R. Wallace

June 8, 1942 — February 2, 2015

LANNY R. WALLACE Tupelo- Lanny R. Wallace, 72, now celebrates in the presence of his Heavenly Father. Born June 8, 1942 to Johnny and Ophelia Wallace in Morton, Miss., Lanny passed into eternal life on February 2, 2015. As he eased into eternity, he was surrounded by his family as his favorite songs, "Beulah Land" and "Amazing Grace" were played for him. Lanny was a graduate of Morton High School and in May 1965 earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business Administration from his beloved University of Southern Mississippi. He served as a representative for March of Dimes of North Mississippi before beginning a career in investments and insurance sales. During his life he enjoyed spending time with his family, feeding and watching the birds in his yard, sitting on his porch and enjoying the beauty of God's creation, and spending time with his dog, Rhett, who was his faithful companion to the end. He was an avid NASCAR and Atlanta Braves fan. He was a member of First Baptist Church Tupelo. He is survived by his wife, Katy, whom he married on June 27, 1970; his daughters, Allison Wallace Tucker (Colin) of Fairfax, Va., and Ashley Wallace Collum (Jason) of Tupelo; five grandchildren, Andrew Tucker, Emily Tucker, Abigail Tucker, Joshua Collum and Lauren Collum; a sister, Virginia Ann Box of Greenwell Springs, La; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Edward Wallace Jr. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at First Baptist Church Tupelo with the Reverands Ricky Young, Randy Wood, Lowell Walker, and Billy T. Nimmons officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from noon until service time. The immediate family will have a private burial service. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Lanny to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210, or made online at www.mdanderson.org or a charity of your choice.
