Mooreville - Lamont Starling, 77, died Monday, December 14, 2009, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Lee County native, he was born June 7, 1932 to Cladue and Alma Dodson Starling. For most of his working life he was a brick mason with Hopkins Masonary Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He loved working in his garden, going to auctions and yard sales, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Baptist church.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery east of Saltillo.
Survivors include his wfie of 34 years, Linda Faye Starling of Mooreville; three daughters, Debbie Leach (Richy) of Mantachie, Ann Taylor (Billy) of Greenwood Springs, and June Mink (Randy) of Winthrop Harbor, Il.; three sons, Joe Starling (Judy) of Pleasant Prairie, Wisc., Danny Dill of Mooreville and Bobby Dill (Diane) of Fulton; one sister, Jean Ramsey of Tupelo; one brother, Truman Starling (Nora Lee) of Mantachie; 11 grandchildren, Johhnny, Little Joe, Jonathan, Lesley, Nathan, Page, Austin, Carrie, Bobby Joe, Adam, and Aaron.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Dill, Eric Barnett, Allen Barnett, David Dunaway, Brad Foote, Larry Roberts, and Nathan Henry.
Visitation will be 5 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
