LAMAR LONG Brewer - James Lamar Long was born February 9, 1944, to William Edgar Long and Earline Parks Long. He grew up in the Shannon area and graduated from Shannon High School in 1961. He married the love of his life Donna Jean Billings on June 22, 1963. He worked all his life with his second passion of operating heavy equipment. He found Jesus at an early age and spent hours studying the Bible, especially Revelations. He loved spending time with his grandkids, hunting, fishing and camping. He was known by all for his good natured spirit and easy smile. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Jim Manley and Deric Rea officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Donna Long of the Brewer Community; two sons, David Lamar of Shannon and Tommy Long (Angel) of Amory; his grandchildren that he raised, David Michael Long and Corey Lee Long and also Marlee Jean Long, Pyper Layne Long and Nicky Long; three sisters, Sue Chism, Dale House and Melissa Fugua; his mother-in-law, Leona Davis of Pontotoc; one brother-in-law, Bobby Billings (Carol) of Pontotoc; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Kay Coker; one brother, Charlie Herndon; two brother-in-laws, Eddie Coker and Elgin House. Pallbearers will be David Michael Long, Corey Lee Long, Nicky Long, Mark Coker, D.J. Box and Joseph Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Terrell Davis, Trey Weaver, J.D. Stanley, Zack Coggins, Lee Benson and Steven Chandavong. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013, and 9-11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
