Saltillo " Lawrence James (L.J.) Buchanan, 15, died Sunday, June 17, 2007, at The North Mississippi Medical Center due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Tupelo, February 20, 1992, to Lawrence L. Buchanan and Julie Wilson Buchanan. He grew up in Wren and had lived in Saltillo the past three years. He had just completed the eighth grade at Guntown Middle School where he was co-manager of the Guntown football team and was planning to attend Saltillo High School in the fall. He enjoyed football, his Play Station II and riding horses. He was a Baptist.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Horace Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Amory Masonic Cemetery.

Survivors include his mother, Julie Wilson Buchanan (Allan Jackson) of Saltillo; his father, Lawrence L. (L.B) Buchanan (Teresa Dodd) of Wren; one brother, Jeremy Buchanan of Saltillo; one step-brother, Vince Dodd of Wren, three step-sisters, Samantha Dodd, of Wren, Amber Jackson, and Ashley Collums, both of Tremont; his grandparents, James T. and Wanda Wilson of Belden; his step-grandparents, Jeff and Bernice Jackson of Saltillo; three aunts, Rayshell Roaten of Blue Springs, Linda Walker of Nettleton, and Sally Lyles of Belden; three uncles, James "Doc" Wilson of Belden, Ronnie "Tootie" Wilson of Guntown, and Willie Wilson of Saltilo; one niece, Kourtni Jackson.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Lawrence Cully Buchanan and Gwen Duncan; and his great-grandmother, Julie Wilson

Pallbearers will be James (Doc) Wilson, Eric Caldwell, Dillan Parker, Robert Stevenson, Eric Roaten and Jamison Buchanan.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Saltillo High School 2007 Ninth Grade Football Team and the Jackson family.

Visitation will be will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Saltillo Funeral Home.
