Kitty Long
TUPELO - Kitty L. Long, 79, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at her home in Tupelo. A Lee County native, she was born May 29, 1926, in Guntown to the late William P. and Lottie Fain McNutt. In addition to be a homemaker, she worked for T.K.E. Drug Store and as a crossing guard for the Tupelo City School District. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers and antiques.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Dr. Randy Von Kanel and the Rev. Roger Smith officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Philip Long of Tupelo; two sons, Robert Long and wife, Kathy, and Don Long and wife, Judith, all of Tupelo; two sisters, Betty Blissard of Birmingham Ridge and Lottie Smith of Tupelo; a brother, Roy McNutt and wife, Betty, of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Lori Long, Jodi Strickland and Linsey Long, all of Tupelo, and Kylee Haley and husband, Clint, of Ashville, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Aidan Strickland and Jacob Tackett, both of Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Hershel McNutt, Tom McNutt and Harold McNutt, and two sisters, Evelyn Smith and Mildred McNutt.
Pallbearers will be Mike Bannon, Paul Poland, Billy Easterling, Gary Easterling, Jimmy Smith and J.W. Holder.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Ritch, Merle Claunch, the employees of Commercial Distributors and the Terry Byars Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
