Tupelo - Kenny Leon Blackshear, 55, died Sunday, September 6, 2009, at his residence after an extended illness. A native of Jonesboro, Ark., he was born August 22, 1954 to Russell Leon and Naomi Ruth Powell Blackshear. A 1972 graduate of Jonesboro High School, he then went on to Arkansas State University where he graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Business Management. He was plant manager for Joern's Medical in Baldwyn. He loved children and taught preschool Sunday School. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. David Eldridge officiating. Graveside Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Jonesboro Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his parents, Leon and Naomi Blackshear of Tupelo; one daughter, Amy Blackshear Hughes (Matt) of Tupelo; one son, Chad T. Blackshear of Tupelo; and numerous extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Chad Blackshear, Matt Hughes, Bill Dundore, Tom Camp, Martin Scarlett, and Bill Keen
Honarary Pallbearers will be Elaine Keen, Sally Camp, Janet Hammond, Craig Cook.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The body will lie in repose 30 minutes prior to service time.
