Tupelo, Miss - Kenneth Dale Taylor, 84, died Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Avonlea Assisted Living and Retirement Community in Tupelo after a lengthy illness. An "Abbott, Texas native, he was born August 5, 1921, the only child of the late Thomas Oscar and Hercie Wilburn Taylor. He was a graduate of Texas Tech University in Lubbock with a B.A. in Accounting and Economics. A veteran of World War II, he retired as Commander from the U. S. Navy May 31, 1964, after 22 years of service. He immediately commenced building his own commercial janitorial company in Corpus Christi, Texas up to a work force of over 200 employees. He sold the business December 31, 1980, and worked 8 years as an accountant for Browning Brothers Furniture Company. While living in Texas, he was a deacon for 15 years in the First Baptist Church of Corpus Christi, Texas where he served on almost every committee of the church for periods of time including chairman of the committee to select new deacons and chairman of the personnel committee. He also served as a Sunday school teacher for the 6 year olds for 12 years. After moving to Tupelo, he served one term as deacon at First Baptist Church in Tupelo. He was married to Marigene OConnor Taylor who preceded him in death, April 5, 2002.

Survivors include their children, Kenneth Dale Taylor and his wife Gloria of Tulsa Oklahoma, Dr. Cecille Taylor Goysich and her husband, John of Tupelo, and Thomas Eugene (Gene) and his wife, Julia, of Dallas; five grandchildren, Ross, Kathleen and Kirkland Taylor, and Matthew and Rebecca Goysich.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Tupelo with Rev. Rick Ball and Rev. Dave Jensen officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro, Texas with Rev. Andy Davis officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements in Tupelo and Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements in Hillsboro.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Dr. John Bowlins Sunday school class at First Baptist Church, Tupelo
