Tupelo - Kenneth Stevens, 71, died Thursday, August 26, 2010, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Tupelo native and lifelong resident, he was born July 7, 1939 to Cecil Leo and Ruby Opal Davenport Stevens. He was a longtime employee for Pennsylvania Tire and then worked as a horse trainer. He loved working with his horses and was active with the 4-H clubs, helping physically challenged children with equarian therapy. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association.
Services will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Terry Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Priceville Cemetery.
Survivors include his sister, Shirley Dickerson (James) of Baldwyn; his brother, Jimmy Stevens (Peggy) of Blue Springs; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wayne Stevens; a sister-in-law, Laura Stevens; and two nieces, Kelly Stevens and Pam Ryan.
Pallbearers will be Bill Hall, Paul Bradley, Wiley Wiygul, A.J. Ellis, Gerald Bennett and Danny Mears
Honorary Pallbearers will be Buzzy Cullum, David Cullum, Jack McKinney and Buddy McKinney.
