KENNETH EARL BOYD

Tupelo - Kenneth Earl "Knucklehead Ken " Boyd, 60, died Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at his residence after an extended illness. A Tupelo native, he was born August 18, 1946 to Harold L. and Sarah Mildred Smith Boyd. A 1964 graduate of Tupelo High School, he then went on to University of Mississippi. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for Cumulus Fibers, division of Leggett and Platt. He was also the former owner of Small Engines of Tupelo. He was captain of the State Pistol Team for the Army National Guard and taught marksmanship to many law enforcement officers. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Prattville, Ala. He served in several military units and retired from the 223rd Engineer Battalion of West Point. He had a lifelong passion for riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles and was a member of several motorcycle affiliated organizations. He volunteered countless hours toward community service and charitable organizations. He was a member of West Main Church of Christ.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2007 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Minister Charles Tharp officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Patty Harrell Boyd of Tupelo;one daughter, Christie Sims and husband, Alex, of West Point; one son, Marc Weaver and wife, Christy, of West Point; his parents, Harold and Mildred Boyd of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Chris Garner, Alexis Weaver, Trista Weaver, and Kaitlyn Weaver, all of West Point; one brother, Bob Boyd and wife, Robbie, of Tupelo; one sister-in-law, Gloria Turner and husband, Mark, of Starkville; his mother and father-in-law, Clarence and Barbara Harrell of West Point; two nephews, Kirk and Bill Boyd of Tupelo; and a niece, Susan Kershaw of Dallas, Tex.

He was preceded in death by a nephew, Mark Boyd; his grandparents, Bill and Mary Susan Smith and J.L. and Lily Francis Boyd.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
