Kenith Williams
Shannon- Kenith Ray Williams, 79, passed away with his family by his side at Pontotoc North Miss. Medical Center on Sunday, November 12, 2017. He was born May 17, 1938 in Pontotoc, Miss. to the late Sanders Williams and Sula Plunkett Williams. He was a graduate of Shannon High School in 1956 where he excelled in all sports earning a football scholarship at Itawamba Junior College. He was a faithful and active member of Old Union Baptist Church. Kenith served on the Old Union Water System for over forty years where he was still the active president. Kenith had a love for gardening, farming, the Ole Miss Rebels, and the Atlanta Braves. He spent the rest of his time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Polly Williams of Shannon; one son, Phillip Williams (Sonya) of Shannon; one daughter, Pam Waycaster (Brad) of Shannon; three granddaughters, Cassie Gray (Ceburn) of Fulton; Kaley Worthey (Jeffrey) of Shannon and Savannah Williams of Shannon; two great-grandsons, Trip and Brody Worthey of Shannon; one great-grandson on the way, Baby Gray; one brother, Dick Williams (Shelby) of Shannon; two sisters, Diane Wilson of Shannon; June Keith (Jimmy) of Shannon; brother-in-law, Sonny Spearman of Shannon and two special friends, Benny Waycaster of Shannon and Shorty Markham of Shannon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sue Spearman and brother-in-law, Herschel Wilson, Sr. The pallbearers will be Shorty Markham, Benny Waycaster, Richard Williams, Eddie Barber, Herschel Wilson, Jr. and William Spearman, III.
Visitation will be held 4 until 7 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2017 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Bob O'Neal officiating. Graveside services will follow at Old Union Cemetery in Shannon.
