Ken Boren
TUPELO - Herrell Kenneth "Ken" Boren, 58, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at his son's home after a sudden illness. A Tupelo native, he was born March 12, 1947, to the late Herrell and Ruby Storms Boren. A graduate of Mooreville High School, he had worked for the Tupelo Fire Department for 14 years and also held positions with Ergon Asphalt Co., Wilbert Vault, Co., Mooreville Farm Supply and Gray Realty. He was a member of the Baptist church. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and sports, and loved spending time with friends and family.
Services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Wayne Thorn officiating. Phill Ponton will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Betty Boren of Tupelo; four children, Kendall Boren of the home, and Beckie Franks, Jennifer Ballard and husband, Terry, and Rusty Boren and wife, Charlotte, all of Mooreville; two stepsons, Daryl McCaine and wife, Sherrie, and Stacy McCaine and wife, Felicia, all of Shannon; one sister, Virginia Robinson and husband, Jerry, of Saltillo; and one brother, Larry Boren and wife, Lisa, of Tupelo.
Pallbearers will be Cory Franks, Zack Boren, Ben Kingsley, Peyton Boren, Barry Boren, Andy Boren, Vincent Cook Jr., Justin Cook, Daniel Cook and Tyler Cook.
Honorary pallbearers will be Devan Christian, Wesley Turner, Richard Houston, Ronnie Prestage, David Webb, Thomas Yeager and Travis Gray.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.
