Brewer - Ken Dye, 60, born January 14, 1954, in Tupelo to Arvad L. and Margaret M. Dye passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He grew-up in the Nettleton area graduating from Nettleton High School in 1972. Afterwards, he attended Itawamba Junior College where he was a member of the football team. As an adult, he spent most of his life in the Brewer Community.

He began his working career at the age of fourteen in the family business, Dye Construction Inc., founded by his father in 1946. In 1980, he became president of the company and continued to work tirelessly as a road and bridge contractor throughout North Mississippi until his retirement in September of 2012.

A colossal car enthusiast, he was the proud owner of four classic cars, a 48 Chevy pick-up, a 56 Chevy Bel Air, a 66 Ford Mustang and a 57 Ford Custom 300. Ken was a participant of the Tupelo Blue Suede Cruise, Cruising the Coast and many other cruises.

He was an avid deer hunter from an early age. His most prized deer was a Boone and Crockett fourteen point non-typical. He scheduled his life around the hunting season.

He was a member of the Nettleton Lion's Club and a charter member of the Downtown Shannon Civitan Club.

A giving man, he volunteered with the Faith Food Pantry in Nettleton and was a member of the North Mississippi and Koinonia Walk to Emmaus. A faithful Christian, he was an active and dedicated member of Crosspointe Fellowship Church where he served as a trustee.

A celebration of his life will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2014, at Crosspointe Fellowship Church with Bro. Tommy Ray Dabbs, Rev. Phillip Box and Rev. Milton Whatley officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of thirteen years, Phyllis Maharrey Dye of the Brewer Community; three children, Jake Dye of Nettleton, Micah Monaghan (Courtney) of Beaumont, Texas and Ian Nichols (Jeremiah) of the Brewer Community; four grandchildren, Grace Monaghan, Mae Monaghan, Ivy Monaghan and Dalton Dye; two sisters, Jane Spraberry of Abilene, Texas and Judy Harrison (Perry) of Blue Springs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Jared Dye.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Conwill, Robert Allen Godfrey, Joe West, Benjie Robbins, Bryce Miller and Fred Murphree.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Taylor, Stevie Humble, Jimmy Cayson, Johnny Sullivan and Jerry Riley.

The family will accept friends 3 - 7 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014, at the church.
