KAY GILREATH

Saltillo - Linda Kay Gilreath, 63, died Thursday, January 4, 2007, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Tupelo native, she was born October 20, 1943 to the late Henry Russell and Grace O. VanBuskirk Long. She was a graduate of Saltillo High School and then went on to Itawamba Community College. Earlier in life, she worked for Super Sagless and in 1983 began working as a district sales coordinator for Aflac where she continued until 2006. Through her career, she enjoyed extensive traveling. She loved her family and was devoted to them. She will be remembered especially as a giving individual who received great joy from helping others. She was a member of East Main Church of Christ.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2007 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Mr. Sammy Lansdell and Bro. Gary Williams officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include four sisters-in-law, Corinne Gilreath of Prairie, Maxine Gann of Jackson, Florence Martinec of Glynellen, Ill., and Pat Gilreath of Saltillo; a special great-nephew, Will Hardy of Saltillo; two special friends, Martha Mihelic Gann of Tupelo and Eloise Barnes of Tupelo; six aunts, Ruth Edwards (Buford) of Saltillo, Laverne Raper of Saltillo, Jennie Buskirk-Cox (Bob) of Saltillo, Moline Buskirk of Saltillo, and Alvis Long of Waynesboro; one uncle, Murrell VanBuskirk (Barbara) of Lacey, Wa.; numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jimmy Gilreath; seven uncles, Earl Buskirk, Donald Buskirk, and Perry Raper, Frank Long, Ben Long, William Long and John Quitman Long; six aunts, Mary Blaylock, Lois Long, Christine Messner, Josephine Blaylock, Fannie Ruth Bailey and Grace White.

Pallbearers will be Phillip and Harold Edwards, Jimmy Gann, Jesse Connor, James Burney, Chris Hardy, Lee Dickerson, Butch Lyle, and James Rogers.

Honorary Pallbearers will be associates and former associates of Aflac.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and will continue Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
