Plantersville - Kay T. Brown, 94, went to be with the Lord Monday, January 31, 2011, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A native of Fulton, she was born May 1, 1916, to Davis E. and Carra Lee Burch Thorn. She worked for Kruger Industries until she retired. She loved reading, especially her Bible and the newspaper. She enjoyed working in her yard, especially her flower garden, family get-togethers and was devoted to her family. She was the widow of Fletcher Ellis who died in 1935 and her second husband, John H. Brown who died in 1956. She was a member of Oak Ridge Christian Church.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Dale Carr officiating. Burial will be in Andrews Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include three children, Ann Witt (Charles)of Pontotoc, Herman (Bud) Brown of Plantersville, and Sandra Gail Barton (Davis) of Pontotoc; two sisters, Sarah Patton of Tupelo and Toby Murphy of Belden; eight grandchildren, Janice Franks, Gene Johnson, Sharon Westmoreland, Laura McNutt,Michelle Johnson, Bill McNutt, Dallas Blankenship, and Kathy Brown; 12 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and first and second husbands; two brothers, Yates Thorn and L.R. Thorn.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Westmoreland, Dwayne Franks, Chad Blankenship, Kevin Herring, Jason Crump, and William Heard..
Memorials may be made to The American Heart Association or Oak Ridge Christian Church.
