Tupelo - Mary Kathryn Ellis, 77, died Monday, October 19, 2009, at her residence after an extended illness. A Lee County native and lifelong resident, she was born March 16, 1932 to Noel and Alma Brown Webb. She was the widow of Jack Ellis and they were owners of Ellis Upholstery. As a homemaker, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed nurturing her flowers and playing bunko with her very special bunko family.
Services will be 9 a.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Sammy Lansdell, Eddie McCaskill, and Kathy Parrett officiating. Burial will be in Priceville Cemetery.
Survivors include Two daughters, Gay McCaskill (Eddie)of Athens, Ga., Kathy Parrett (Mike) of Venice, Fla.; one son, Tommy Morris of Tupelo; one step-daughter, Jackie Hanna of Saltillo; eight grandchildren and an armful of great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lorraine Lansdell of Blue Mountain, Betty Barron of Verona and Hazel Benson of Fulton; a special sister-in-law, Eva Webb; her very special friend, Lewis Clark.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 46 years, Henry Ellis, Jr. who died March 4, 2008; her sister, Louise Davis; and her brother, Lawrence Webb.
Pallbearers will be Seth McCaskill, James Parrett, Drew Parrett, Danny Brewington, Bob Shumpert, and Wayne Ray.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the funeral home.
In lieu of memorials, Kathryn loved flowers.
