Pontotoc - KATHLEEN ARMSTRONG KELLY, 89, died Sunday, February 10, 2008, at Sunshine Health Care in Pontotoc after an extended illness. A longtime resident of Tupelo, she was born August 29, 1918, in the Evergreen Community in Itawamba County to the late Harry Tracy and Bessie Patterson Armstrong. She was married to Merrill E. Kelly in 1947 who preceded her in death January 26, 1972. She worked as a seamstress at Milam Mfg., before moving to on to Rockwell International from which she retired. After her retirement she spent several years working for Busy Lad Rental. She was a longtime and faithful member of East Heights Baptist Church.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Joseph "Butch" Knight and Rev. Jason Marlin officiating. Burial will be in Gilvo Cemetery.
Survivors include two sisters, Jo Nell Edge Loucks of Tupelo and Lillian Knight Buse of Tupelo; two brothers, Harry Lee Armstrong of Tupelo and Bobby Cantrell Armstrong of Panama City, Fla.; three sisters-in-law, Mozelle Payne, Earnestine Salle, and Merblene Parmer Smith; four brothers-in-law, J.C., Kenneth, Charles and Eddie Wayne, Kelly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merrill Kelly; a sister, Bessie Faye McDaniel and a brother, William Nolan Armstrong.
Pallbearers will be Hal Edge, Charles Kelly, Eddie Wayne Kelly, Eddie Armstrong, James Clements, Tommy McDaniel, Harrison White, and Junior Roberts
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Alan Flowers and Dr. Steve Montgomery, and the staff of Sunshine Health Care.
Visitation will continue until service time Tuesday.
