KATHLEEN WILLIS HUSSEY



Mooreville - Kathleen Willis Hussey, 86, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Countrywood Manor. She was born June 14, 1931, to Teenie and Alma Willis. Her grandmother was a midwife that lived next door to Elvis's family, and they played together as children. On September 29, 1947, at the age of 16, Kathleen married Jimmy Hussey. After graduating high school, she went to Itawamba Junior College on a scholarship to play basketball. She played on 3 State Championship teams in high school, and in college, she ranked in the top list of junior college girls on the defense section of the court. While at Itawamba Junior College, Kathleen and Jimmy were nominated Mr. and Mrs. Basketball in 1949-50. She worked at the United States Post Office in Mooreville for 30 years and retired as Postmaster. Kathleen was talented at knitting, tatting and crochet. She kept her grandchildren and great-grandchildren until her health declined. Kathleen was very involved in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives, especially their extra-curricular activities. Kathleen was a lifelong and faithful member of Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church.



Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Jimmy Hussey of Mooreville; children, Kay Anglin and Stan Hussey (Peggy) both of Mooreville; grandchildren, Vickie Cheney (Chad) of Pontotoc, Alice Bardsley (Jack) of El Paso, Texas, Ron Anglin of (Angie) of Mooreville, Chip Hussey (Lee Anna) of Fulton and Chelsea Barber (Jon Paul) of the Richmond Community; great-grandchildren, Gracie Austin, John Cheney and Kellyn Gonzalez; brother, Hayden Willis (Diane) of Tupelo; sister-in-law, Shirley Cooper of Mooreville and numerous nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her parents, Tennie and Alma Willis; sister, Agnes Smith (Leon); brothers, Lionel Willis (Doris) and Arnold Willis (Faye); great-grandchild, Kamryn Gonzalez and father and mother-in-law, Tom and Fessie Mae Hussey.



Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time. Rev. Eric Sanford will be officiating the service and burial will be in Andrews Chapel Cemetery.



Pallbearers will be Chip Hussey, Ron Anglin, Jon Paul Barber, Chad Cheney, Herman Hussey, Jr., Mark Enlow, Tim Smith and Tommy Smith.
