KATE ELLIS
SHANNONKate Ellis, 96 went to be with her Lord on Monday, December 19, 2005 at Gilmore Memorial Hospital. She was born August 23, 1909 to the late Bruce Sisk and Alma Holmes. A native of Shannon, she was married to Trannie Lee Ellis, Sr. in 1928. She was a charter member of Old Union Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was an active member of the Verona Senior Citizens Center until her health failed. She loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed reading, sewing and gardening. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 pm at the Jefferson Street Chapel of WE Pegues with Rev. Billy Langley officiating. Burial will be at Old Union Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Trannie Lee Ellis, Jr. and wife, Earline; one brother Mitchell Sisk and wife, Grace,all of Shannon; six grandchildren; Jerry Ellis and wife, Charlotte, Patsy Harris and husband, Randy all of Shannon, Sandra Armstrong and husband, Daniel, of Smithville, Andy Ellis and wife, Kathy, of Columbus, Tim Ellis and wife, Carrie, of Jasper, AL, Phillip Ellis and wife, Susie, of Paris, AL; 15 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Trannie Lee Ellis, Sr., her son, Charles Thomas Ellis, one sister, Louise Tully, and three brothers, Allen Sisk, George Sisk, and Frank Sisk.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-9 p.m.
