Julia Kenney
Tupelo - Julia Thweatt Kenney died Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Memphis Jewish Home. She was born March 27, 1933 in Paducah, Kentucky to W. A. and Euneda Francis Thweatt. When Julia was a few months old she moved with her family to Houston. She lived there until 1951 when she moved to Tupelo. Julia was a longtime and faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, a retired secretary and volunteer.
Mrs. Kenney's survivors include her sons, Dr. Doug Kenney (Cindy Beers) of Memphis, Tennessee and Don Kenney (Rhonda Gooch) of Thaxton; grandchildren, Sarah Kenney, Jonathan Kenney (Jess), Daniel Kenney, Philip Kenney (Savannah), Anna Tacker and Brielle Cruse (Jason); great-grandchildren, Cooper, Colton, Caden and Chase Kenney, Zeke and Lilly Beth Tacker, Grayson, Paisley and Mary Francis Cruse; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Thweatt of Memphis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max Kenney; brothers and sisters, Cecil Thweatt, W. A. "Bill" Thweatt, Blonda Thweatt, Carl Thweatt, Euclid Thweatt, Clara Thweatt Lambert, Euple Thweatt Shelby and Quinton Bickerstaff.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday July 15, 2016 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. William Montgomery officiating. Graveside services to follow at White Zion Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 12 until 2 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2016 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Pallbearers include Jonathan Kenney, Daniel Kenney, Philip Kenney, Jimmy Kenney, Jake Kenney and Jason Cruse.
