Joyce Lee Roper
BELDEN - Joyce Lee "Gran" Roper, 64, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at the North Miss. Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Baldwyn to the late Hoil and Myrtle Watson Wages. She was married over 40 years to the Rev. David Roper, who preceded her in death. She was recently retired from Bauhaus USA in Sherman. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and enjoyed working with antiques.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Dr. Kenneth Pollock officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Pannell and her husband, Steve, of Belden; two sons, Randy Roper and his wife, Pat, of Brewer, and Danny Roper and his wife, Pam, of Saltillo; two sisters, Janice Parker of Sherman and Barbara Morgan and her husband, Audie, of Tupelo; two brothers, Melvin Wages and his wife, Mary, of Furrs, and Carlton Wages and his wife, Kay, of Pontotoc; seven grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three sisters, Martha Bridges, Shirley Towery and Charlene Jones.
Pallbearers will be Robert Wages, Greg Wages, James Robertson, Jackie Hill, Eric Barber and Buckie Mason.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
