Tupelo - Joyce Jones, 62, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 8, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. A Tupelo native, she was born August 17, 1946 to Clovis and Christine Brooks Jones. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and she very much enjoyed listening to gospel music.
Services will be 6:00 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2009 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Don McCain officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include two sisters, Jean Watson (Charles) and Judith Long (Don) both of Tupelo; one nephew, Chadd Watson (Amie) of Hattiesburg; four nieces, Amy Wafler (Matt) of Florence, Alabama, Jodi Murphy (Tony) of Covington, Louisiana, Linsey Palmer (Mike) of Tupelo and Kylee Long of Nashville; three great nephews, Aidan Strickland, Jacob Tackett and Myles Wafler; two great nieces, Lily Watson and Avery Palmer; special friends and caregivers, Joyce Rowe and Clayton Turner, both of Tupelo .
She was preceded in death by her parents; her maternal grandparents, Willie and Elsie Brooks; and her paternal grandparents, Clovis and Erma Jones.
Visitation will be 4 - 6 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2009 at the funeral home.
