Joy Friday Hurst

JOY FRIDAY HURST Verona - Joy Friday Hurst, 58, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 12, 2015, at her home. She was born October 8, 1956, in Tupelo to Cecil E. Friday and Paulette Cockrell Friday. She attended Verona Elementary School and graduated from Tupelo High School in 1974. In 1978, she graduated from Mississippi State University and for a short time taught school in Kossuth. Joy worked for the U. S. Postal Service both in Corinth and Pennsylvania. She attended First Baptist Church in Tupelo and enjoyed singing in the choir. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2015, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues, with Rev. Ricky Young and Rev. Larry Dunlap officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include her son Cody Hurst of Albany, Oregon; her stepmother, Doris Friday of Verona; her sister, Jeanie Friday of Tupelo; nieces, Brandie Brigman of Tupelo and Katherine Graddy of Nashville, Tennessee; nephew, Will Graddy of Madison; great-nieces, Kayla & Willow of Sherman; one sister-in-law, Jill Graddy Harrison of Madison; and several cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents and stepbrother, Bill Graddy. Visitation will be 12 until 2 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2015, at W. E.
