JOY FORD
Tupelo - Joy Windham Beard Ford, 59, died Friday, May 12, 2006, at her residence after an illness of eleven months. A New Albany native, she was born February 19, 1947 to the late Roscoe Anderson and Lavelle Windham Hardin Beard. A graduate of Myrtle High School, she then went on to The University of Mississippi where she graduated with a bachelors degree in music. She was a homemaker and piano teacher and also taught music at Water Valley, Grace Christian and Myrtle Schools. She was an avid reader as well as a talented artist and musician. She enjoyed spending time with her new grandson.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 20 at Harmony Baptist Church in New Albany with Rev. Jody Anderson officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Melanie Joy Ford of Tupelo; two sisters, Andrea Smith and husband, Bob, of New Albany, and Mary Manning and husband, Mike, of Myrtle; One grandson, Noah Pickering, of Tupelo; one step-granddaughter, Cheyenne Pickering, of Tupelo; 11 nieces and nephews, Marianne Manning Lancaster, Ray Manning, Jeremy, Cara and Alex Beard, Daniel and Jonathan Smith, Anna and Melissa Pope, Jessica and Darren Brown.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ebb James Ford, III; one brother, Hardin Beard.
The family will receive friends one hour before service time at the church on Saturday.
