JOSHUA MORGAN HANCOCK

ST. LOUIS - Joshua Morgan Hancock, 29, died Sunday, April 29, 2007, from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born April 11, 1978, in Cleveland to Shirley Morgan and Dean Hancock. He was a member of the Methodist church. He was a standout baseball pitcher at Vestavia Hills High School in Birmingham, Ala., and a member of the 1996 Auburn University World Series baseball team. He was a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals. Even though he traveled extensively as a professional baseball player, he always called Tupelo, Baldwyn and North Mississippi his home.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2007 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Andy Ray and Rev. John Sudduth, officiating. Cas McWaters will deliver a eulogy. Burial will be in Kirkville Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his mother, Shirley Morgan Sammut of Michigan; his parents, Dean and Betty Hancock; his sister, Katie Hancock; his brother, Jon Jon Hancock, all of Tupelo; a sister, Jessica (Morgan) of Michgan; his grandmother, Mary Morgan of Jackson; his aunts and uncles, Virginia Millican of Los Angeles, Randy Morgan of Jackson, Hal and Patricia Hancock of Tupelo; Jack and Pat Jackson of Birmingham, Ala., Jack and Linda Hancock of Baldwyn, and Billy and Sheila Hancock of Baldwyn; eight first cousins, Lisa Donaldson of Flower Mound, Tex., Rebeka Porter of Birmingham, Ala., Jackie Hancock of Baldwyn, Wes Hancock of Oxford, John Hancock of Huntsville, Ala., Molly Simpson of Olive Branch, Greg Hancock and Jim Hancock, both of Baldwyn.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Esther Hancock, Billy Morgan, and Pete and Mary Millican.

Honorary pallbearers will be his St. Louis Cardinals Baseball family

The family will receive friends in Wesley Hall following the Memorial Service
