JOSH WEATHERFORD Tupelo - Joshua K. Weatherford, 32, died unexpectedly on March 1, 2014. Josh was born November 1, 1981, in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Rebecca Meadows and John Weatherford. Josh graduated from Magee High School and moved to Tupelo a few years later. He attended Mississippi State University and worked at the Mississippi State Veterinarian school. He attended Itawamba Community College where he received the Hall of Fame award for his excellence in nursing. Josh graduated with honors in 2007 with his Associates degree in nursing. He was a critical care Registered Nurse (RN) at the North Mississippi Medical Center for the past seven years. Josh loved helping others and was an excellent nurse. He enjoyed golfing, watching his MSU Bulldogs, and was a number one fan of Peyton Manning. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a loving father who loved taking his family to Gatlinburg and enjoyed the outdoors. Josh enjoyed life and he was the comedian at family gatherings. Josh will be greatly missed by all that knew him because he put a smile on everyone's face. Josh leaves behind his wife, Jennifer Slayton Weatherford, the love of his life; a daughter, Lexi Wren; a son, Dakota Wren all of Saltillo, Mississippi. His mother, Rebecca Meadows of Tupelo; a sister, Amanda Griffith (Clay) of Cordova, Tennessee; His in-laws, Debbie and Ray Slayton of Saltillo, Mississippi and his maternal grandparents, J. D. and Mildred Wilson of Fulton, Mississippi. He leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family. He was preceded in death by his father, John K. Weatherford, his paternal grandparents, Kermit and Lottie Weatherford all from Meridian, Mississippi and his loyal bloodhound, Mae. A celebration of his life will be held at the Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Douglas Wilson officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 -8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4th. There will be no graveside service. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Wilson, Matt Painter, Clay Griffith, Jonathan Wilson, Nathan Hanson, Jason Raper, Jordan Bishop, Joseph Painter, Reid Raper, Phillip Shaw, Greg Miller, Todd Powell, and Kyle Stidham. Memorials may be made to the Mississippi State University Veterinarian School, payable to MSU Foundation, PO Box 6100, MS State, MS 39762.
