TUPELO- Josephine Baldwin Burroughs, 82 years of age, eased into her eternal home with her Lord and Savior surrounded by family on Mother's Day, May 13, 2018.  She was born on July 29, 1935 to Essie Inez Rogers and Wiley Hubbard Baldwin in Brewer where she enjoyed a happy childhood surrounded by a large family, special cousins and friends.  Along with her twin sister Joan, she was baptized in a lake in Brewer by Bro. Berryhill during a revival and joined Brewer Baptist Church.  She attended Brewer school until she married George Jefferson Burroughs on February 22, 1953 in Tupelo and moved to Bermuda to begin life as an Air Force wife.  They also lived in Utah, South Dakota, and Columbus, Mississippi before returning to Tupelo and establishing Burroughs Manufacturing, Inc.  The Highland Circle neighborhood was home for 40 years and the site of many cherished memories.  She was widowed in 1999 and suffered a few serious health problems since then that she miraculously overcame with a smile on her face.  She was diagnosed with cancer in 2017, yet continued to live her life to the fullest until her last few days here on earth.  She never complained.  Her hair was always properly coiffed; her makeup was applied meticulously, and she dressed herself daily with lots of sparkle and shine.  Along with getting dressed up, she enjoyed trips to the beauty shop, shopping for new outfits, good food, margarita Saturdays, and live music with those closest to her.  She dearly loved all her family and those she considered her family, and she was contagiously happy.
