Jon Hurd Hill
CORINTH - Jon Hurd Hill, 66, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 5, 1940, in Okolona to the late John Herd and Jonell Sullivan Hill. He was an attorney and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Corinth. A 1958 graduate of Okolona High School, he attended Mississippi State University and received his degree in 1962. He was a member of the ATO Fraternity. In 1970, he graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law. He was a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, the Alcorn County Bar Association, Siege and Battle of Corinth, the Krossroads Collection, the Community Christian Video and the Pickwick Yacht Club. He was involved in the inception of the first Crossroads Jubilee in 1973, an important part of the Coke 10K run for 25 years, and helped start the first state seat belt awareness campaign, "SNAP.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Corinth. A private interment will be at a later date.
Survivors include a special friend, Beverly Hutzell of Memphis; one daughter, Pipa Burnett (Terry) of Leesville, La.; one grandson, Zachary Burnett of Leesville; one sister, Joanna Carter (George) of Okolona; two nieces, Mary Jo Lewis (Stacy) of Pontotoc and Jennifer Carter of Okolona; one nephew, Jonathan Carter (Kristi) of Okolona; two great-nieces, Anna Jordan Lewis and Lindsey Leigh Lewis of Pontotoc.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to service time in the courtyard of the church.
