JOHNNY L. TRAVIS
Tupelo - JOHNNY LEE TRAVIS, 54, died Thursday, September 14, 2006, after an extended illness. A long time resident of Tupelo, he was born November 18, 1951 in San Antonio, Tex. to Marcelle Travis and the late Louis Anderson Travis. He had worked in auto sales for the past 35 years. He enjoyed watching Nascar racing and football and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, September 17, 2006 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Dale Carr officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Debbie Travis of Tupelo; three daughters, Audrey Travis of Plantersville, Christy Lindsey White and husband, John, of Tupelo, and Madonna McClain and husband, Justin, of Fulton; three granddaughters, Autumn Long, Kaitlyn Oswalt, and Chloe McClain; his mother, Marcelle B. Travis of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Linda Scruggs Horn and husband, Mike, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Joyce T. McKinney and husband, Pete, of Nettleton; one brother, Ronnie Travis of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.;his mother-in-law, Jean Ramsey, of Tupelo; 3 nieces and 5 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Travis, Jr.; his father, Louis A. Travis; a brother, Jerry D. Travis; and a nephew, Jerry Travis Smith.
Pallbearers will be Richard and Shane Scruggs, Chuck and Jason McKinney, Tim Putt, and Jeff Gray.
Visitation is tentatively set for 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. until service time on Sunday at the funeral home.
