JOHNNY GRAMMER Fulton - Johnny Grammer, 62, died Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at his residence in Fulton from a sudden illness. A Tupelo native, he was born August 9, 1950, to Otis and Shirley Grammer. Johnny grew up in Tupelo and lived his early married life in Tupelo before moving to the Brewer Community where he and his family lived for 15 years. He and his family moved to Fulton 13 years ago where they presently reside. In 1970, he completed his basic training with the U. S. Army and served with the U. S. Army Reserve until 1974. For 20 years, he bravely served with the Tupelo Fire Department as a fireman from which he retired in 1996. A man of Christian faith, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed his time with his family. He also enjoyed playing golf. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2013 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Phillip Holley and Larry Holley officiating. Burial will be in Doty Chapel Cemetery with firefighter burial honors. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Teresa Holley Grammer of Fulton; one daughter, Tracie Grammer of Fulton; two sons, Dusty Grammer of Nettleton and Jason Grammer of Little Rock, Arkansas; four granchildren, Lauren Knight, and Caden, Cydney and Zachery Grammer. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Tommy and Charles Grammer. Pallbearers will be Josh Holley, David Zinn, Darrell Zinn, Austin Lindley, Joe Minga, Aubrey Williams and Rickey Nichols. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2013 at the funeral home.
