JOHNNY “J. D.” MOORE
Saltillo – Johnny Douglas Moore, 73, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 at home surrounded by his family and friends, after a two year battle with lung cancer. He was born December 12, 1943 to B. C. and Zella Hill Moore of Belmont. He graduated from Belmont High School in 1962, where he excelled in football and basketball. He served his country in the United States Army Infantry Division from 1964 until 1970. Johnny later received his Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University, but instead of pursuing a teaching career, he chose carpentry and construction. For over 30 years, Johnny owned and operated Moore’s Construction.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Kathy Hinds Moore of Saltillo; daughters, Johnna Moore Faulkner (Marshall) and Abby Christina Moore both of Saltillo; one grandson, Ridge Marshall Faulkner; sister, Martha Carr of Dennis and brother, Max Moore of Saltillo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles “Chick” Moore and Harold Moore and father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Helen Hinds.
Visitation will be from 3 until 7 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at W. E. Pegues, Saltillo
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Haskell Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Moore Cemetery in Belmont.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Pharr, Frankie Hallmark, Kenny Hanson, Rodney Moore, Larry Whitt and Marshall Faulkner.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Clayton, James Garrett and Jacob Mitchell.
