Shannon - Johnny Lee "Bubba" Rowland, 54, died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at his daughters residence after a sudden illness. He was born March 4, 1954 in Hazelhurst, Ga., to the late Milledge Lee and Dorothy Nell Lewis Rowland. After graduating from Tupelo High School, he then went on to Itawamba Community College. Along with his father, he was co-owner of R & D Roofing in Verona for over 20 years. He was baptized and married at Second Baptist Church. An avid reader and music enthusiast, he also enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be dearly missed by all. He was a kind and giving person who found his greatest joy in helping others.

Services will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Bill Payne officiating. Doug Merchant will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include one daughter, Laurie Carwile, and husband, Donny, of Dorsey; one son, Casey Rowland and wife, Wendy, of Dorsey; one sister, Sharon Pearson and husband, Jimmy, of Shannon; five grandchildren, Corey, Kennedy, and Kase Rowland, and Brandon and Brooklyn Carwile; special nieces and nephews, Jeff Pearson and wife, Amber, Zachary Pearson, Ashley Dabbs and husband, Tony, and Amber Pearson; great-nieces and nephews whom he considered his own grandchildren, Annagrace Pearson, Dakota, Hunter and Angelica Dabbs; the mother of his children, Betty Rowland of Mooreville; his grandmother, Vera Lewis of Tupelo; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandfather, Woodrow Lewis; and his grandparents, Bessie and Sambo Rowland.

Pallbearers will be Richard Steele, Richard Rowland, Newburn Rowland, David Pearson, Chris Blaylock, and Steven Whitaker.

Honorary pallbearers will be Timmy Lewis, Cody Pearson, Matt Pearson, and Rawdy Rooker.
