JOHNNIE H. COLEMAN
Tupelo, Miss. - Johnnie H. Coleman, 77, died Monday, May 15, 2006, at his residence after an extended illness. A Tupelo native, he was born October 20, 1928 to the late Howard and Elizabeth Topp Coleman. He was the widow of Verna Lee "Babe" Coleman, his wife of 55 years, who died four months ago. He lived in Kankakee, Ill. three years and Joliet, Ill. 46 years where he worked for the Kerr Glass Co. until retiring in 1996. He enjoyed gardening and farming. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2006 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors of Tupelo is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Coleman of Tupelo; two sons, Jerry Coleman of Tupelo and Gene Coleman of Joliet, Ill.; two sisters, Phoebe Coleman of Bay Springs and Lillie Dotson of Baton Rouge, La.; three brothers, Moncree Coleman of Milwalkee, Wis., Melvin Coleman of Philadelphia, Penn., and Bernis Coleman of Tupelo; one grandchild, Cordell Caradine of Joliet, Ill.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Chapman, and Mickey Coleman; and two sisters, Vivian Thomas and Luvada Belephant.
