Tupelo - John C. McKnatt, 82, died Thursday, November 6, 2008, at his residence in Tupelo. He was born April 1, 1926 in Atoka, Tennessee to Charles A. and Clara Mae Lassiter McKnatt. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army in Germany. He was a truck driver until he became disabled in a car accident in 1972. He was married 44 years to Eula Mae Bostick McKnatt who preceded him in death June 12, 2006. He loved country music and was known for his mechanical inclination and enjoyed repairing electronics. He was devoted family man.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2008 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. at Belmont Memorial Gardens in Belmont.
Survivors include two sons, John T. McKnatt and his wife, Karen, and Charles E. McKnatt, both of Tupelo; one daughter, Peggy Jean McKnatt of Melburn, Florida; one step-daughter, Beverly Ann Williams and her husband, Marcus D. Williams of Atoka, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Timothy Ashjon McKnatt of Tupelo, Michelle Williams and Dale Williams of Memphis, Tennessee; seven great grandchildren, Nigel Robison, Jannice Williams, Paul Joseph Williams, Rea Rea Dye, Heath Williams, Cory Williams and Darrius Williams, all of Memphis, Tennessee; special family friends, Tammie Homan of Pontotoc and Joe and Diane Crouch of Millington, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, Paul Jeffrey McKnatt, his parents and one stepson, Bobby David Bostick.
Visitation will be 5 -9 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the funeral home.
