John Lamb

Eggville Community " John Marvin Lamb, Jr., 79, died Friday, May 15, 2009, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of the Eggville community, he was born May 5, 1930, to John Marvin and Maude Weathers Lamb. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #294 in Saltillo and was a KCCH 32 Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Tupelo Free Will Baptist Church. Previously a longtime member of the Eggville Free Will Baptist Church, were he served as a Sunday school teacher, director of the Sunday school department, a Deacon, and a Trustee. He also served on the Eggville cemetery committee. Early in his life, he worked a short while for R. C. Cola Bottling Company in Tupelo. For over 50 years, he was a Master Brick Mason. Also, he taught hunter safety classes for many years. He enjoyed outdoors sports, gardening. Along with his bothers he enjoyed beekeeping and aviation.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2009 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with the Rev. Terry Pierce officiating. A graveside service with Masonic Rites will be in Eggville Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife Billie Jo Robbins Lamb of Eggville; one daughter, Janet McReynolds of Nashville, Tennessee; one son, Douglas Lamb of Rena Lake; four step-children, Pam Johnson (Bobby) of Mooreville, Paula Parker (Bobby) of Middleton, Tennessee, Nora Coggins (Joe) of Saltillo, Christopher Robbins (Pam) of Saltillo; one sister, Sarah Hardin (Bobby) of Eggville; two brothers, Ecolee Lamb of Eggville, Robert Gene Lamb (Brenda) of Saltillo; one brother-in-law, Vernon Keith of Eggville; three grandchildren, Lt. Josh Lamb of the United States Navy, Brett and Brooke McReynolds of Nashville, Tennessee; five step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife to whom he was married over 50 years, Charlie Mae Buse Lamb, and one sister, Loeva Keith.

Pallbearers will be Lt. Josh Lamb, Brett McReynolds, Jackie Ganus, Ben Hardin, Chris Robbins and Willie Gene Estes. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Saltillo Masonic Lodge.

Visitation: will be 5 " 8 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009.
