Oak Hill Community—John Lance Hand, age 69, passed away December 1, 2022 at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born April 10, 1953 in the Oak Hill Community to Bettie Sue Lloyd Hand. He was a longtime employee of Tupelo Plywood and enjoyed spending his days outdoors bass fishing.
He is survived by his daughter, Crissy Hand-Loudermilk; his bonus daughters, Deana Sanders (Chris), and Lisa Pettigo (Billy), all of the Evergreen Community; the mother of his children, Kathy Murphy; his mother-in-law, Betsy Arnold; his nine grandchildren, Jimmy R. Hand, Blade Hand (Brandy), Bonnie Herod (Richard), Casey Wilson (Dominik), Chris Sanders Jr., Wesley Sanders, Harley Sanders, Preston “Chase” Pettigo, and Lexi Pettigo; two sisters, Sue McCarty and Mary Hamm (Carl); 15 great-grandchildren, Jessalynn Hand, Eli Hand, Scarlett Wilson, Wynter Wilson, Blazyn Wilson, LJ Hand, Hero Hand, Mary Jane Hand, Brooklyn Tutor, Hazel Wicker, Kensley Kent, Braxton Kent, Kyzer Kent, Blakelee Jackson, and Haizen Wilson; a special niece and nephew, Hannah and Jerry Hand.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; three brothers, James O’Neal, Staff Sgt. Larry E. Hand, and Charlie Hand; his son-in-law, Joseph Loudermilk.
