John Wiley Hall, Jr.

Former resident of Tupelo, Mississippi and more recently Woodstock, Illinois; John Wiley Hall, Jr. died quietly in his sleep due to complications from diabetes at the Manteno Veterans Home in Illinois. He was 83 years old. He was born in Osceola, Arkansas and the only child of John Wiley Hall, Sr. and Lillie Mae Hall.

In his lifetime, he was married to the mother of his children, Gerall (Young) Monaghan, now of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Margie Faye (Bodiford) Urdak. (deceased)

Veteran of both the US Army Air Corps and the United States Air Force, he served his country proudly receiving many medals of distinction including the WWII Victory Medal/American Campaign Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), National Defense Service Medal and the Award of Commendation for Operation Sagebrush. He was also an integral part of the development of the liquid nitrogen rocket boosters for the NASA space shuttle missions.

His survivors include his daughters Janice Adele Boyd (Darrell) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Margie Michele Drennen (Joe)
of Woodstock, Illinois, Grandchildren, Bruce Franks (Kelley), Ooltewah, Tennessee, Robin Scruggs (Will), Chicamauga, Georgia, Sarah and John Drennen, Woodstock, Ilinois and four (4) Great grandchildren, Adam, Emily, Chase and Maggie.

Preceded in death by his parents, and his son John Wiley Hall, III, he was known as JW, Daddy, Paw Paw and Granddaddy; and was loved by both family and friends.

His life will be celebrated during a service at Pegues Funeral Home in Tupelo, Mississippi on Wednesday, November 14th at 2:00 PM. Visitation hours will be from Noon until 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery. The family of John Wiley Hall, Jr. would like to give special loving thanks and mention to the staff at the Illinois Veterans Home of Manteno and Hospice of Kankakee County for their loving and sensitive care in his final days.
