JOE ELLIS TURNERTupelo- Joe Ellis Turner,85, passed away May 4, 2016 at his home after a brief illness. He was born January 23, 1931 to Claude and Wincie Turner. He was a retired sign painter, after retirement he did carpenter work with his two son's . In 2001 he started a Bluegrass Gospel Group with his two sons and special friends known as the "Turner Boys" He was known for his guitar picking, and was a member of Allen's Chapel Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2016 at W. E. Pegues in Tupelo.Services will be Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors with Bro. Sammy Washburn and Bro. Abe Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be at Gilvo Cemetery.He is Survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Turner; two sons, Terry Turner and Woody Turner; one sister, Jane Griffin; two brothers, Wayne Turner (Peggy) and Gene Turner; brothers-in-law, Steve Kelly and John Barber (Pat); sisters-in-law, Doris Turner and Janie Kelly.He is Preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Turner and Earl Turner; brothers-in-law, Ben Kelly and Bobby Griffin and sisters-in-law, Gladys Turner and Shirley Kelly.Pallbearers will be Dennis Carr, Dual Gober, Leon Edwards, Joe Hillhouse, Doug Thornton, Mike Brown and Hoyt Richey.Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Allen's Chapel Methodist Church.Expressions of sympathy may be left at www.peguesfuneralhome.com .
