JOE TACKETT Mooreville - Joe Allen Tackett, 82, died Saturday, January 5, 2013. He was born April 4, 1930. He was retired from Sheller-Globe Mfg. after twenty-three years. He was a deacon at Skyline Baptist Church for forty-four years. He loved racing, football, westerns, wrestling and spending time with family. He owned and operated Joe's Pillow Co. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2013 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Castor Buse officiating with a eulogy by his grandson, Marc Helms. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Modean Tackett of Mooreville; one son, Bobby Joe Tackett (Bev) of Tupelo; two daughters, Diane Helms (Rex) of Auburn and Betty Joe Melton (Don) of Mooreville; one adopted daughter, Audie Gilmore (Tony) of Skyline; nine grandchildren, Chris Tackett (Patty), Melisha Tackett, Allen Melton, Justin Melton (Danielle), Tyrone Ensey, Holly Barnett (Kevin), Marc Helms (Adrianne), Trista Rickman (Tony) and Zach Helms (Hannah); sixteen great-grandchildren; a special grandson, Steve Barmlett of Tupelo; one brother, Ray Priest (Mary) of Mooreville; one sister, Virginia Hester of Tupelo. He was preceded in death by his son, Claude Caldwell, Jr.; four brothers, James, John, Robert and Grady Tackett; five sisters, Virdie, Frances, Reana, Bonnie and Martha. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Chris Tackett, Allen Melton, Justin Melton, Kevin Barnett, Marc Helms, Tony Rickman, Zach Helms and Steve Bramlett. Visitation will be 3 - 8 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the funeral home.
