JOE A. McCARTER Tupelo - Joe A. McCarter died Friday, June 25, 2015, at his home in the Macedonia Community. He was born February 23, 1936, to Ben F. and Robbie Gambrell McCarter. He graduated from Sherman High School, served in the United States Army and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Joe worked many years as a master bulldozer operator working locally as well as in Africa and Puerto Rico. He will be remembered by many for the stories he told and his gifts of fresh vegetables, especially tomatoes. Survivors include one son, Tim McCarter; grandchildren, Traci Brock (Jacob), Timmy McCarter (Jeanette) and Dacey McCarter; great-grandchildren, Lexi McCarter and soon to be here, Millie Brock and Carli McCarter; nephews, Jay McCarter (Jolie), Jon McCarter (Jennifer), Ben McCarter (LeAnne), and Matt McCarter; niece, Robbie Montgomery (Doug); aunt, Polly Thomason; sister, Loretta Hettler (Jim); sister-in-law, Mary McCarter; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
