Plantersville - Joseph Luke Carter, Jr., 67, went to his heavenly home Sunday, March 22, 2015, at the North Mississippi Medical Center, Hospice Unit. He was born November 25, 1947 to Luke and Erma Roberson Carter. He served in the United States National Guard, Army. Joe worked 40 years at Super Sagless and transfered to Omega Motion for one year before retiring. He loved deer hunting, gardening, cooking, playing with his grandchildren, gospel music and watching western television shows. He attended Unity Presbyterian Church. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Dr. John Armistead officiating with eulogies by Mike Brown and Otho Stevens. Mainstreaming at www.peguesfuneralhome.com will be provided for those unable to attend . Burial will be in Unity Cemetery (East of Plantersville). W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Sherry Boozer Carter; two children, Tim Carter (Winnie) of Baldwyn and Paula Hall (Jesse) of Blue Springs; one stepson, John Hodges (Gillian) of Key West, Florida; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Roy Carter (Mary Lynn), Wilda Ann Miller (Larry), Wanda Pannell (Robert), Betty McBrayer (Mike) and Beatrice Carter; sister- in-law, Betty Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Carter. Pallbearers will be Tony Carter, Richard Rushing, Jason McBrayer, Kevin McBrayer, David Dickerson and Mac Reedy. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. Memorials may be made to Vietnam Replica Wall in c/o Create Foundation or Unity Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, 1998 Eason Boulevard, Tupelo, MS 38804.
