Joe "Jody Boy" W. Ransom, Jr.



Tupelo - Joe Willie Ransom, Jr., 60, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017, at his home. He was born in Tyronza, Arkansas on May 30, 1956, to Joe W., Sr. and Betty Smith Ransom. Jody was a self employed painter. He enjoyed to play pool and cooking out and grilling. Jody loved his family, especially his grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Bad to the Bone Pappaw". His children were his two best friends in the world. He was Baptist by faith. Jody was loved by his family and will be dearly missed.



Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Jodi Ransom; children, Lori Ransom Horn (Doug) of Booneville and Joe W. Ransom, III (Kelsey Pickens) of Tupelo; grandchildren, Memory Little, Kyle Horn and Brody Horn all of Boonville; brothers, Fred Ransom (Jeannette) of Tupelo,  Billy "Spud" Ransom of Pontotoc and Claude Ransom (Cindy) of Tupelo; sisters, Lynda Russell (Danny) of Houlka, Pat Lee (Robert) of Baldwyn, Betsy Hernandez (Larry) of Tupelo, Mary Joe Ransom of Oxford and Carolyn Hodge (Tom) of Houston; brothers-in-law,  Danny Lawson (Mitzy) of Sherman and Alan Lawson (Angie) of Missouri; sisters-in-law, Virginia Carlock of Tupelo and Vivian Lawson of Pontotoc; special friends, Danny Mancill (Cherry) of Tupelo, Danny Lawson, Doug Horn and Danny Russell and a host of nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Hannah.



Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
