Tupelo - Jo Watson, 81, died Friday, November 27, 2009, at Rosewood Residence after an extended illness. A native of Sherman, she was born July 25, 1928 to Hilary and Estelle Alexander Livingston. She owned and operated a beauty shop for serveral years. She married George Watson May 1, 1976. She was manager of Super Sports in the Downtown Mall for a number of years. After the downtown mall closed she helped her husband in the antique business until her health failed. During the time in antiques she and her husband traveled and bought antiques in Europe where they made many friends. She enjoyed going to Branson, Mo. She was a devout Christian and enjoyed her church and Sunday School class. She worked with the children's Department at Parkway Baptist Church for many years. After joining St. Luke United Methodist Church, she enjoyed her Sunday School Class and traveling on many church trips. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was loved by all who knew her for her loving kindness.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Rick Brooks and Rev. Sherry Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, George Watson of Tupelo; her daughter, Nancy Lavely (Phil) of Savannah, Ga.; her step-daughter, Janet Watson of Memphis, Tenn.; her step-son, Stennis Watson of Seattle, Wa.; three grandchildren, Kellie Watts (Todd) of Columbia, Jon Michael Morgan (Sarah) of Charlotte,N.C., and Lee Morgan of Savanah, Ga.; six great-grandchildren, Jon Luke, Alexander and Ladner Watts, and Jillian, Marlo, and Silas Morgan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Roy, Byron, Harold, Paul and James Livingston; one sister, Mary Hall.
Pallbearers will be her son-in-law, Phil Lavely; grandsons, Jon Michael Morgan, Lee Morgan; grandson-in-law, Todd Watts; her great-grandsons, Jon Luke Watts, Alexander Watts, Ladner Watts, and Silas Morgan; Rudolph Franks, Tom Barnett, and Billy Hitt
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of her Sunday School, the Senior Adults of St. Luke United Methodist Church; James Sloan, Jim Couch, Tony Barkley, and Charles Miller.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
