JO PETTY Tupelo - Jo Petty, 82, died Thursday, January 15, 2015, at her daughter's residence after an extended illness. A native of Tupelo she was born March 13, 1932 to the late Guy and Jessie Morgan. Mrs. Petty worked as Supervisor for South Central Bell before retiring after 37 years. Also, she served as President of the Pioneers Club. She enjoyed watching Nascar, loving her grandchild and was a fan of MSU. She was a member of Tupelo Free Will Baptist Church where she served in the Kids at Heart Program and loved her Sunday School Class. Services will be 3p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Jefferson Street Chapel with Rev. Terry Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include one son, James Petty of Tupelo; one daughter, Diane Dobbs of Tupelo; one grandchild, Lindsey Marsh (Tyler) of Columbus, MS; three great-grandchildren, Aaden James Marsh, Savannah Faith Marsh, Carson Campbell Marsh, all of Columbus; one sister, Anna Atkins (Sam) of Tupelo; one sister-in-law, Virginia Wester of Tupelo. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Horace Petty and her parents. Pallbearers will be Sammy Atkins, David Atkins, Bobby Gilmore, Bobby Huey, Bob Birmingham. Visitation will be 12-3 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the funeral home.
