TUPELO - Frances Jo Calloway, 65, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at her residence in Tupelo after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born June 14, 1940, to the late B.W. and Mae Davis Homan. She was a Hinds Community College graduate as well as a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse at North Mississippi Medical Center and later worked as the administrator at Graceland Nursing Home in Pontotoc until retiring. She was also a published author. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tupelo.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Rick Hall and the Rev. Dave Jensen officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include one daughter, Denise Shewmake and her husband, Devin, of Alexandria, La.; three grandchildren, Jade Chambers of Wilmington, N.C., Joshua Chambers and Jacob Niles Chambers, both of Alexandria; one sister, Evelyn H. Duncan of Tupelo; two brothers, B. W. "Bubba" Homan Jr. and wife, Carolyn, of Tupelo, and James "Zeke" Homan and wife, Jean, of Oxford, a sister-in-law and caregiver, Shirley Calloway of Pontotoc; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Clytee Benson and Louise Kirk.

Pallbearers will be Lee Duncan Jr., Dexter Calloway, Devin Shewmake, Chris Duncan, Pete Harrelson and Charles Watson.
