JIMMY WHEELER
Madison - Jimmy Nathan Wheeler, 79, died Friday, July 7, 2006, at Hospice Ministries after an extended illness. A Mooreville native, he was born August 15, 1926, to the late James Sumpter and Myrtle Hall Wheeler. He spent most of his adult life in Tupelo, but recently resided in Madison and was an active member of Parkway Hills United Methodist Church. He served in the US Navy during Word War II aboard the USS Krishna and USS Pike. For the past 23 years he was a disaster recovery center manager for the Federal Emerhency Management Agency, retiring in 2005.
Services will be 5 p.m. Sunday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of WE. Pegues with Rev. Beth S. Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Helen Tally Wheeler of Madison; two daughters, Annjo Wheeler Lemons and husband, David of Madison, and Beth Wheeler Magee and husband, Rod, of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada; three grandchildren, Shea Lemons Berault and husband David, of Slidell, LA, Brian Lemons and wife, Julie, of Starkville, and Zachary West of Bishop, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Joseph Berault of Slidell, LA; two sisters, Eva Wheeler Foster and Annie Faye Wheeler Barnes, both of Tupelo.
Pallbearers will be Brian and David Lemons, David Berault, Make Ratliff, and Clarence and Tim Foster.
Visitation will be 3 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
