JIMMY STANFORD
Saltillo - James Hoyt "Jimmy Stanford, 71, died Thursday, February 22, 2007, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Saltillo native, he was born April 26, 1935 to the late Earl and Zelma Smith Stanford. He was a United States Navy veteran retiring after 21 years of service. After his retirement from the military, he served as Chief of Police in Plantersville and as a deputy with the Lee County Sheriff's Department. He was a Mason, Scottish Rite and Shriner. He was a member of Skyline Church of Christ.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Minister Troy McNutt officiating. Burial military and Masonic honors will be in Saltillo Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Jamey Stanford of Tupelo; five step-daughters, Carol George and husband, Billy, Barbara Morgan and husband, Kevin, Jane McCauley, Jackie Simpson and husband, James, and Joy Fritz, all of Tupelo; four sisters, Earlene Jowers of Saltillo, Jo Ann Simmons and husband, Carl, of San Diego, Calif., Joyce Parker of Mesquitte, Nev., Janice Lichvar and husband, Michael, of Las Vegas; one brother, Donald Stanford and wife, Patty, of Saltillo; 26 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will continue Friday until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
