Jimmy Powers

Guntown—Jimmy Dale Powers, 69, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023 at his home in Guntown. He was born November 16, 1953 in Lackland, Texas, the son of Jack and Francis Ivy Powers. Jimmy grew up primarily in Memphis, Tennessee. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a jet engine mechanic. He was the widower of Karen Powers and they enjoyed 42 years of marriage before her passing in May of 2018. In 1989 Jimmy and Karen planned to move their family to Florida, but after a stop in Mississippi, they made their home in Booneville and lived in Northeast Mississippi ever since. Jimmy worked as a beveller for Precision Blades, retiring just days ago after 28 years of service. His greatest joy came from time spent with his nine children and their families.
Jimmy leaves behind his children, James Hubanks, Jammie Powers, Michael Powers, Stefanie Kidd, Jimmy Powers, Jr., David Powers, Jeremy Powers, sherry Burge, and Stacy Guspan; a sister, Jackie Stablein; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parent, Jack and Francis Powers; his wife, Karen; and a brother, Larry Powers.
