Mooreville - Jimmy E. Green, 72, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at his residence after an extended illness. A Lee County native and longtime resident of Mooreville, he was born October 25, 1937 to Woody and Charlie Green. While most of his working career was spent as a farmer, he had also worked for Daybright for a number of years as well as for the state highway department. He was an avid fisherman until his health failed. He attended Norris Chapel Baptist Church.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Kevin Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in Andrews Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Donnie Green (Dorce) and Ronnie Green (Darlene), all of Mooreville; two daughters, Pam Sheffield (Buddy) of Dorsey and Becky Jaynes of Tupelo; ten grandchildren, Rodney Green (Shelley) of Tremont, Christi Elrod (Wayne) of Mooreville, Kim Tutor (Scott) of Pontotoc, Lynn Tackett (Jason) of Mantachie, PJ Smith of Eggville, Jimmy Ray Green (Diana) of Mooreville, Mandy Morris (Anthony) of Mantachie, Nikki Caldwell (Micheal) of Mantachie, Angel Green of Mooreville, Hattie Green of Louisiana; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Florene Gillentin, one brother, Gary Wayne Green, both of Mooreville; a very special friend, Hazel Cheney.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 31 years, Doris Gene; one son, Mike Green, one daughter, Mitzi Green, four brothers, tom, Harold, Fred, and Ruble Green; and one sister, Barbara Pannell.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Ray Green, Micheal Parham, Jason Tackett, Wayne Elrod, Scott Tutor, and Aaron Kessner.

Honorary Pallbearers will be friends from the North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice and his grandsons.

Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
