Saltillo - James Martin Jimmy Ellis, 65, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at his residence after an extended illness. A Lee County native, he was born August 22, 1944 to William Maynard and Louella Stovall Ellis. He worked as a salesman with Valenite for over 20 years and was recently employed as a store manager with Litco on Gloster for the past few years. He was a lontime member of the Nite Liters Band and enjoyed boating at Pickwick Lake. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and the activities they shared together.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Mr. Sammy Lansdell officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include two sons, Todd Ellis (Lisa) of Saltillo and Tim Ellis (Annette) of Knoxville, Tenn; six siblings, Billie Stanley of Plantersville, Jean Helms (Pat) of Niceville, Fla., Martha Blythe (Ray) of Verona, Ann Drake (James) of Carr Vista, Sue Thomopson (Joe) of Blytheville, Ark., and John Ellis of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Lauren and Braden Ellis and Lauren and Hunter Payne; his extended family, Tony Crenshaw and family, Blake Crenshaw and fammily, Amber Crenshaw, Belinda Howard and family, and Jeff Hicks and family; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Mike Ellis, James Drake, Ray Blythe, Moses Ruff, Sidney Barnett, and Jeff Seals.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the former members of the Nite Liters Band.
